I had the pleasure of visiting Roatan, and it was an unforgettable vacation. The locals were incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and the beaches were nothing short of breathtaking. I chose to stay in West Bay, which is distinct from the West End—two very different experiences. West Bay is perfect for those seeking relaxation and leisurely beach strolls. The West End, on the other hand, has a vibrant scuba diving culture. It's easy to hop on a water taxi for just $5 and explore both areas. While the West End is fun to explore and also stunningly beautiful, I highly recommend making West Bay a priority on your Roatan adventure.
Infinity Bay
Infinity Bay is an exceptional place to stay, and I highly recommend it. The tiki bar downstairs offers fantastic drinks and has amazing bartenders. Our room was a spacious three-bedroom, three-bathroom suite with a full kitchen and living room. Each bedroom had its own balcony, and there was an elevator to our third-floor room. The resort is situated right on the water, and you can easily catch a water taxi from the dock located there. It's the perfect location, within walking distance to all the beach bars and restaurants. The service was impeccable, and the room included a complimentary breakfast every day.
Ahari
Ahari on the beach in Roatán was the perfect spot to relax and unwind, with stunning ocean views, a laid-back atmosphere, and exceptional service. One of the highlights of the visit was their espresso martini. It was expertly crafted with a smooth, rich coffee flavor, just the right amount of sweetness, and a perfectly balanced kick. Sipping such a delicious cocktail while enjoying the beachside scenery made for an unforgettable experience and a must for anyone visiting Roatán.
Calkett’s
Calkett's Island Cuisine was one of our favorite meals in Roatán. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and showcased the best of island cooking. The open-air setting and laid-back atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy a long meal, while the friendly service made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Between the great food, beautiful surroundings, and authentic Caribbean feel, Calkett's delivered the kind of dining experience that makes a vacation memorable.
Sundowners
Sundowners in West End is the kind of place that perfectly captures the laid-back spirit of Roatan. Known for its incredible waterfront location, it's the ideal spot to grab a cold drink, watch the boats come and go, and take in one of the island's beautiful sunsets. The atmosphere is casual, friendly, and welcoming, making it easy to spend a few hours relaxing with friends or meeting fellow travelers. Whether you're stopping in for happy hour, a meal, or just the view, Sundowners delivers the perfect combination of good food, cold drinks, and unforgettable island scenery.
George’s
George's on West Bay is a must visit for seafood lovers in Roatán. The lobster is the star of the menu. It was so fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. What makes it even better is the price; it's hard to believe you can enjoy such delicious lobster for a fraction of what you'd pay back home. With generous portions, friendly service, and a relaxed island atmosphere, George's delivers an amazing meal without breaking the budget. It's the kind of place that has you checking whether you really need another lobster dinner... and deciding that you absolutely do. However, if you order the crab, bring your own hammer.
Sandy Buns
Sandy Buns in West End quickly became one of our favorite spots in Roatan. From the first bite, it was easy to see why so many people rave about it! The food is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or a bakery treat, everything seems to hit the mark. The friendly atmosphere and consistently great food make it the kind of place you end up visiting more than once during your trip. If you're walking through West End and catch the aroma coming from Sandy Buns, do yourself a favor and stop in.
George’s
Las Rocas on West Bay offers one of the best dining views in Roatan, with tables overlooking the water and a relaxed atmosphere that perfectly captures the island’s vibe. One of the biggest highlights is their incredible lobster special; two lobster tails for just $25, an amazing value for such fresh and delicious seafood. The setting is hard to beat, with beautiful Caribbean scenery, and some of the best sunset views on the beach. Between the generous portions, great prices, and unforgettable location, Las Rocas is the kind of place you'll find yourself recommending to everyone who visits Roatan.
Paradise
Paradise Beach Hotel is a great spot on West Bay for a laid-back afternoon, especially during happy hour. On Tuesdays, their pitcher of beer and pizza special for just $12 is one of the best deals on the beach, making it easy to enjoy great food and cold drinks without spending a fortune. With beachfront views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a front row seat to one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in Roatan, it's the perfect place to take a break after snorkeling, swimming, or simply soaking up the sun.
Ricas Pupusas
Ricas Pupusas is one of those hidden in Roatan that you could easily walk past if you didn't know it was there. Tucked away along a small walkway, this unassuming spot serves some of the most delicious and authentic pupusas on the island. The handmade pupusas are cooked fresh to order, packed with flavor, and served at prices that make it tempting to try more than one. The casual setting adds to the charm, making it feel like you've discovered a local secret rather than a tourist hotspot. If you're looking for a tasty, affordable meal and an authentic taste of Central America, Ricas Pupusas is well worth seeking out.
Grand Roatan
Grand Roatan, located at the far end of West Bay Beach, is one of those places that captures everything people love about Roatan. The whole pig roast is was impressive! People came from all over for an incredible meal packed with flavor and island hospitality. The cocktails are equally impressive; refreshing, expertly made, and perfect for enjoying with a beachfront view. What really sets Grand Roatan apart, though, is the snorkeling right off the beach. Just steps from the shore, you'll find crystal clear water filled with stunning tropical fish and colorful marine life, making it easy to spend the day moving between great food, great drinks, and an unforgettable underwater adventure.
Cafe Rubio
Café Rubio in Roatán is one of those places that quietly steals the show. You might stop in thinking you'll grab a quick coffee, and before you know it, you're debating whether a second pastry is a good idea (it is). Between the friendly atmosphere, great food, and coffee strong enough to convince you that snorkeling at 8 a.m. was your idea, Café Rubio turns a simple café visit into a memorable vacation moment. The portions are generous, the staff makes you feel right at home, and somehow you leave already planning your next visit before you've even finished your cup.
Happy Harry’s
We hopped on a water taxi from West Bay to West End, which conveniently dropped us off right at Happy Harry’s Hideaway. I was pleasantly surprised by how budget-friendly it was… beers were just $2! The staff were incredibly welcoming and made the experience even better. Happy Harry's Hideaway in Roatan, set in the famous over-the-water building, is renowned for its lively atmosphere. Offering breathtaking sunset views, live music, and even a deck for sea dives, it’s a hotspot for locals and visitors. Known for its affordable drinks, including some of the cheapest beers on the island, it’s the ideal place to relax without stretching your wallet. From indulging in their signature puffy tacos to watching NFL games or rubbing Harry's belly for a bit of good luck, Happy Harry’s guarantees an unforgettable time!
